The club was established in 1845 and in the 163 years since, has continuously
produced teams and individual cricketers of high quality. Two of Yorkshire's
and England's greatest players, Herbert Sutcliffe, and Sir Leonard Hutton
began their careers here, and Sir Len continued to have a lifetime's
involvement with the club. In addition, St Lawrence has produced many
exceptional cricketers who have gone on to play for Yorkshire or other First
Class counties, and the occasional one for England!
St Lawrence have a long history of being a family club. This goes back to
Herbert Sutcliffe, whose father played here, and Sir Leonard played alongside
his brothers. This tradition continues to the present day with the club
currently having 4 father and son combinations playing in various teams.
The Club continues to be proud of its history and true to its tradition,
whilst also being committed to the future.
