Hoylandswaine Cricket Club are the newest members of the Huddersfield District
Cricket League, having been accepted for the 2009 season. The Barnsley based
cricket club was formed just before the turn of the last century and started
their life as members of the Penistone Cricket League. They moved to the
Barnsley League in the 1930s before joining the Huddersfield Central Cricket
League in the 70s where they steadily climbed the leagues. In 2007 they became
the first club in the history of the Central League to win the treble of the
Premier Division, the Sykes Cup and were Twenty/20 champions. Last year they
retained the Premier Division but were beaten in both finals of the other two
competitions.
